Capgemini asked us to help them communicate their Rightshore offering and they wanted to use an offshoring explainer video to do it. Rightshore is Capgemini’s global delivery model, which adds value while using resources more effectively. They deliver the best talent from the right balance of onshore, nearshore and offshore locations, working a unified team. Quite a challenge to communicate!
We spent a while getting the look of the video right. The beams of light needed to look energising rather than bolts of destruction! We scripted, storyboarded and animated three sequences, each on a different aspect of Rightshore. For the voice over, we coached one of their staff to give a great performance. This nice touch gives the film a ‘we made this’ flavour to their offshoring explainer video.
Creating a dynamic globe animation involved both 2D and 3D animation techniques. We used suitable animation software Maya and After Effects. First, we modelled a 3D globe using the software, using a standard coloured map.
Next, we applied textures and materials to the globe to give it the client’s colours so that it felt on brand. We animated the rotation and movement of the globe to simulate its rotation, tilt. We then added the beams of light, and added more graphic elements in After Effects.
3D rendering took time, and that complicates the creation of an animation like this. You don’t find out what it really looks like until the render is complete, so if there’s a mistake it can take time to correct.
