For about three years, we’ve been running a CV surgery as part of our skills development for TV freelancers. I got tired of reading really badly written and laid out CVs. It wasn’t necessarily that the person didn’t have great skills, or was a bad writer. They were just looking at their CV from the wrong end of the telescope, telling employers what they wanted to say, rather than thinking from the employer’s side, what they needed to hear. So back in 2007 I developed a programme with TV CV tips, put some ads out, and got a great responses from the first session.
